Oxfordshire based Speech and Language Therapy
I am a Specialist Speech and Language Therapist based in Oxfordshire. After studying at Oxford University I started a career working in the pharmaceutical industry. However, in my late 20’s, my husband experienced a severe brain injury causing communication difficulties. This led me to retrain as an SLT, obtaining a Master’s degree in Speech and Language Therapy (SLT), from University College London in 1997.
I have developed my skills and expertise over more than 18 years in a range of NHS settings including:
- Oxfordshire Stroke Rehabilitation Centre, Abingdon
- Oxford Centre for Enablement
- Battle Hospital, Reading
- Rivermead Rehabilitation Centre, Oxford
Prior to moving to private practice in 2022, I was Clinical Lead for Speech and Language Therapy at the Oxfordshire Stroke Rehabilitation Unit.
Over the past 10 years I have developed an interest in Solution Focused Practice which I use in conjunction with evidence-based Speech and Language Therapy treatments and as a stand alone therapy. This supports and reinforces the person-centred approach, in all aspects of my work, and I tailor therapy to each individual’s needs.
I aim to maximise each client’s potential and minimise their frustration, as well as limit difficulties experienced by those around them.
I strive to offer a warm, professional and individualised approach for communication or swallowing difficulties. Not only do I work with clients but also their partners, families and friends to help support and maximise an individual’s communication and participation in a more holistic approach.
